She stared at her screen, wondering if she had read those words correctly. It was getting pretty late, and she couldn’t think straight anymore. She had known him, what, a couple years now? She knew she loved him after a few lengthy conversations, and the day she blurted it out over the phone, she knew it was going to be a rough road for her heart. He was different yet similar: a grounded traveler with itchy feet, and his flaws and facets were the stars in her skies. She squinted tiredly at the screen and read his words again. Loved.

A stillness fell on her, as if a great weight had been lifted from her. She was loved. She held back a weak laugh, almost choking on the sudden tears that came to her eyes. Finally. She had dreamed of it, had cursed herself for wishing it, had been so angry and miserable with herself for even wanting to hear this from him. She had been so convinced that he would never love her, never consider her a part of that word in his life – and in one sentence, he had broken that illusion. She read over the sentence again, committing it to memory. The world suddenly had a peaceful, easy feeling to it. She felt as if a level of enlightenment had been achieved. She was not the same, and it felt amazing. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, wondering what to say. She wished she could say it back, but she didn’t want to scare him off. She loved him with all her heart, but how does one say it without saying it – especially to someone like him? She supposed she would just have to learn how to. She looked back and hugged her knees to her chest, thinking hard. At last, she thought, I will finally sleep tonight.

Ah, this is a familiar situation. I've been in it myself. That feeling of relief when the other person finally realizes it. . . well, the joy felt is overwhelming. Beautiful description of this experience.
