Demesne was born just when pop culture was becoming a thing. His era consisted of many technological breakthroughs, as well as advances in medical services. Science had just finished perfecting space exploration and had already sent out tentative colonists for further expansion into space. A handful of planets were already considered livable and had small families started on them, including the Moon, Venus, and Mars.

Demesne was born in London, England and raised in Galway, Ireland where his parents owned and ran a local pub. He had been brought up around the rougher crowds, and had befriended most of his hometown by spending countless hours chatting with locals over the counter while his father bartended and his mother played hostess and waitress. Its reputation stretched wide, as some of the best beer was brewed and served here, so it was never dull. When he wasn’t helping at the pub, he spent his time playing with the other boys from school, or was reading a history book. When he was younger, his parents discovered he loved to build things from anything he could get his hands on: blocks, paper, boots, sheets, anything and everything. They decided to help him further this skill, and had him do several projects around the house: designing a new bathroom, adding on a spare room for guests, and building a brand new shed to hold the firewood for the winter. When he attended school, his teachers were impressed with his knowledge of how numbers and measurements worked, as well as his excellent organizational skills, and told his proud parents so. Eventually, when they decided to open their own pub, they enlisted Demesne to layout and build it from the ground up, and he rose to the task magnificently.

He met Serendipity by accident one day; his usual route to town was blocked by an enormous herd of goats, so he decided to take the hills’ path. He saw her sitting near the top, concentrating hard on a canvas that sat before her, and his architect’s eye didn’t take long to spot what she was working on. He waited a few moments to see if she would solve the problem, but as her face grew darker, he finally worked the courage up to say something to her. She seemed chiffed that a stranger had told her what her issue was, but he knew he would have felt the same way. So, he politely took his leave, and carried on his way. However, when he went to make his trip back to town the next day, he found himself drawn to the same route again, and he found her once more. He made an effort to give her a wide berth, and was bewildered (and somewhat pleased) when she called out to him. They spent many hours after that first meeting together, talking about numerous things – some important, others just random banter. He fell in love with her heavily, and he knew she felt the same way. Her parents seemed to approve of him, so he asked their permission to wed their daughter. There was a few tears but they gave their consent, and they were married not much longer after that. He had never been so happy in his life – to have such a talented, beautiful woman to call his the rest of his life: what a miracle!

Several months into their marriage, he received a letter from the newly formed Council on Venus, requesting he come work for their new city, as they had need of someone with such highly recommended skill. Their offer of accommodations and pay was far too handsome to turn down, and after speaking with his wife, they made the journey to Venus, where they would start their lives together in their new home.

Attitude: Demesne is down to Earth, unlike his wife. He sees the realism in the world, and is often seen as pessimistic. He takes most things with a grain of salt, and has a strong belief that if you want something done, you better do it yourself. He is a hard worker who doesn’t like to sit still much, and often finds himself creating small projects to keep himself busy. He is friendly and polite, and has a kind heart that can make him the greatest of friends with anyone who is willing to put the time and effort into becoming his friend. His tolerance of ignorance is significantly low, and he often found himself telling other kids off when he was younger. Where his wife enjoys creative and colorful, he likes his quiet, methodical moments – especially when working on a project. He won’t jump from one thing to another, and is quite organized where Serendipity is not.

When they landed and went to pick it up, a crew member told them it was to be shipped later from Earth, as it had missed the trip. Aisling was passing by with her husband, Bainne, and overheard the argument, and they stepped in. A few short words were said, and suddenly their belongings appeared. Grateful, they thanked the couple wholeheartedly and invited them to lunch. They parted friends, and promised to keep in touch.

Trivia:
